RADIOFREQUENCY SURGERY
- A procedure that uses an electric current to cut, remove, or destroy tissue and control bleeding. The current is carried through an electrode that is placed on or near the tissue. What are Genital Warts ?

Genital warts are a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). They appear as soft growths in the genital and anal areas. Here’s a bit more detail:
- Appearance and Symptoms:
- Genital warts can vary in appearance. They are typically flesh-colored or grey and can appear as small, cauliflower-like bumps or flat lesions.
- They may cause symptoms such as itching, discomfort, or pain, although many people with genital warts experience no symptoms at all.
- Causes:
- Genital warts are caused by HPV strains comprising high and low risk types.
- HPV is transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, most often during sexual activity.

Who is Affected:
- Both men and women can develop genital warts.
- They can occur at any age but are most common in sexually active individuals.
Can HPV Warts Prevented?
HPV vaccination can protect against the type of HPV that most commonly cause genital warts and certain cancers.
The FDA has approved HPV vaccines called Gardasil 9 which protects against a total of 9 viral types. Gardasil 9 is encouraged to be administered to individual as early as attaining the puberty. For adults, Gardasil 9 should be administered on a 3-dose schedule at 0, 2 months and 6 months.

How is it removed ?
Radiofrequency surgery procedure is relatively painless as topical and local anaesthesia being used prior to surgery. After disinfecting the area with antiseptic solution the warts are desiccated using specialised electrode tips and loops powered by electricity to damage the warts.
