What Is Pico Laser?
Pico Laser is an advanced laser system that emits ultra-short bursts of energy measured in picoseconds (one trillionth of a second). These rapid pulses target pigmentation and damaged skin cells without overheating or harming surrounding tissue. The result is faster recovery and improved outcomes for all skin types.
How Pico Laser Differs from Traditional Lasers
Traditional laser treatments rely on thermal (heat-based) energy to break down pigmentation and stimulate collagen. While effective, these systems can cause discomfort, redness, and longer downtime — especially for patients with sensitive or darker skin tones.
Pico Laser, on the other hand, uses mechanical photoacoustic energy instead of heat. This means less skin damage, reduced risk of hyperpigmentation, and significantly shorter recovery time.
Key Differences Between Pico Laser and Traditional Lasers
| Feature | Pico Laser | Traditional Laser |
|---|---|---|
| Pulse Duration | Picoseconds (ultra-short) | Nanoseconds or milliseconds (longer) |
| Heat Damage | Minimal | Moderate to high |
| Downtime | Minimal (24–48 hours) | Several days to a week |
| Suitable for Skin Types | All skin tones (including darker skin) | Limited; may cause post-inflammatory pigmentation |
| Effectiveness | High precision; faster results | Effective but slower improvement |

- Visible results in fewer sessions
What to Expect During the Treatment
Before treatment, a consultation is conducted to assess your skin condition and set realistic goals. A numbing cream is applied to ensure comfort. The Pico Laser handpiece delivers rapid energy pulses to the targeted areas, breaking down pigmentation and stimulating collagen production. Each session lasts around 15–30 minutes, and you can resume normal activities shortly after.
Aftercare and Recovery
Mild redness or warmth may occur but typically subsides within a day. Patients are advised to use sunscreen and avoid direct sunlight for the first few days. Results continue to improve over the following weeks as collagen remodeling takes effect.
