Who a Thread Lift Suits
A thread lift suits people with mild to moderate sagging who want a subtle lift without surgery or significant downtime. It is commonly used to lift the cheeks, define a softening jawline, smooth early jowls, lift the brows and tidy the neckline. It works best when there is some skin laxity but good overall skin quality, giving a refreshed, slightly lifted look rather than a dramatic change. It is not the right option for very heavy or severely loose skin, where a surgical facelift would give a better result. Your doctor examines your facial structure and skin and will be honest about whether a thread lift, or another approach, will serve you best.
The Procedure, Recovery and Results
During the procedure the area is numbed with local anaesthetic, then fine dissolvable threads are placed under the skin and gently used to reposition and support the tissue. You usually see a lift straight away, and the threads also stimulate collagen over the following weeks for a gradual firming effect. It is normal to feel some tightness, mild swelling, tenderness or small bruises for several days up to a couple of weeks. For the first week or two it helps to avoid wide mouth movements, facials, dental work, saunas and vigorous exercise, and to sleep on your back. Results typically last around twelve to eighteen months as the threads dissolve, and maintenance can extend the effect.
