Who Aqualyx Suits
Aqualyx is designed for small, stubborn pockets of fat in people who are already close to their target weight, not as a treatment for general weight loss or obesity. Common areas include a double chin, the flanks or love handles, the abdomen, inner thighs and the area around the knees. It tends to work best when the skin still has reasonable elasticity, so the area looks smooth as the fat reduces. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for certain medical conditions. Your doctor assesses the area, your overall health and your goals first to confirm Aqualyx is appropriate and to set realistic expectations.
What to expect
Sessions and Recovery
During treatment, Aqualyx is injected directly into the targeted fat with a fine needle after the area is prepared. It is normal to experience swelling, tenderness, warmth and sometimes mild bruising in the treated area for a few days afterwards, which is part of how the treatment works as the body clears the fat. Most people need a small course of sessions spaced around three to six weeks apart, depending on the area and the result you want. Changes appear gradually over several weeks rather than overnight. Staying hydrated and keeping lightly active can help, and because Aqualyx reduces existing fat cells, maintaining a stable weight afterwards helps keep the result.

Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections: 2025 Clinical Evidence
Aqualyx (deoxycholic acid compound) is a CE-marked injectable fat-dissolving treatment supported by clinical data from over 2,000 published cases in peer-reviewed literature. A 2024 prospective multicentre European study of 340 patients treated with Aqualyx for submental fat (double chin) found a mean circumference reduction of 3.2 cm after 3 sessions and an 89% patient satisfaction rate at the 6-month follow-up. A 2025 clinical review confirmed that fat cell destruction by Aqualyx is permanent — adipocytes do not regenerate once destroyed — though weight gain can cause remaining fat cells in untreated areas to expand.
