If you are considering diode laser hair removal, knowing what happens before and after each session helps you prepare and get the best results. The treatment is straightforward, but a little preparation and good aftercare make a real difference. At Vivardi Clinics in Rawang, Selangor, our team guides you through every step for a smooth, comfortable experience.
Before your treatment
Shave, do not wax
Shave the area a day before so the laser can target the hair root rather than surface hair. Avoid waxing or plucking beforehand, as these remove the root the laser needs.
Avoid sun and tanning
Stay out of strong sun and avoid tanning before treatment, as freshly tanned skin is more sensitive. This matters especially in our climate.
Keep skin clean and bare
Come with clean skin and no lotions, deodorant or makeup on the area to be treated.
During the session
The treatment uses gentle pulses of light that most people describe as a warm snapping sensation. Sessions are usually quick, depending on the area. Our team adjusts the settings to suit your skin and keep you comfortable throughout.
After your treatment
Expect mild redness
Some redness or a slight warm feeling is normal and usually settles within a day. Soothing and keeping the skin calm helps.
Protect from the sun
Use sunscreen and avoid strong sun for a few days, since treated skin is more sensitive. This protects your results and your skin.
Be gentle
Avoid hot baths, saunas and heavy exercise for a day, and skip harsh products on the area for a short while.
Results over a course
Hair grows in cycles, so a course of sessions is needed to treat follicles at the right stage. You will notice hair becoming finer and sparser over time, followed by occasional maintenance. For an overview of how the treatment works, see our guide to diode laser hair removal.
